The itinerary goes through the woods of Invorio, passing by Gosimo farmhouse, Roncaccio farmhouse and Costanza farmhouse, along the Motto Grande del Duno (Large mount of Duno). At the mount’s foothills there is an area rich in water where, at the end of ‘800, the rice has been attempted to be cultivated. The attempt was a failure because of the unsuitable weather, but since then the area kept its name of “risaia” (rice field).
The trail proceeds towards San Colombano hill in Briga Novarese, where the octagonal chapel of Madonna del Motto and San Colombano church are present. From the latter, during the days of clear skies, an amazing sight on Borgomanero plain and on the far away mountains can be seen. This hill has always been a strategic point, so much that the first stronghold was built by the Gauls, it later became a Roman dominion and lastly a Medieval feud, of which the remains are still visible today.
