This ring trail offers an amazing sequence of atherogenic panorama across two nations. The Gries pass and San Giacomo pass divide Italy from Switzerland, while the Corno pass divides canton of Vallese from canton of Ticino.
The trail starts from Riale plain, goes along lake Morasco, climbs to Bettelmatt plain and clambers towards Gries pass (following the ancient Sbrinz Route). On this plain there is an old bivouac and from here the Gries glacier can be seen, with a dam that gathers water from the glacier (in the Griessee) and a sequence of wind turbines standing out against the mountains.
The trail then reaches Capanna Corno and proceeds to San Giacomo pass. From here a long dirt road goes by lake Toggia and reached Maria Luisa lodge and eventually goes down until Riale plain.
