Calnegia is known as “the valley before the drop”: the Calnegia river jumps into the Bavona river with a 110 mt drop. This primordial fall is just behind Foroglio town, where this trail starts.
After reaching the top of the flight of steps, the trail proceeds along the Calnegia river among fallows that narrate a past of hard work in an uncomfortable land. The whole valley is characterized by huge stone blocks covering the fields. Mankind was indeed able to exploit these gigantic rocks to build houses, barns and cool shelters to store milk and cheese.
After crossing the village of Puntid and its stone bridge, the trail reaches Gerra, the most peculiar fallow land, that still today keeps and old “Splüja bèla”, a shelter built under a massive rock.
The trail then proceeds in the woods until Calnegia town.
