Trekking to Cicerwald alp and Tore alp

This trail starts from Borca town and twists and turns discovering ancient alps, that gift a priceless view on Monte Rosa.
After a short passage on Grande Traversata delle Alpi (Great Traverse of Alps) that leads to Isella town, it crosses Anza river and goes deep in the woods, where a steep trail reaches Cicerwald alp (also called Cravario mount by Walser people). Here, next to a concrete building that doesn’t fit with the typical mountain architecture, the poorly signaled trail that leads to Tore alp starts.
The 360° panorama shows in sequence: Valle Anzasca with its river, Fate lake and Val Quarazza, the high peaks hiding Belvedere glacier, the majestic east face of Monte Rosa and lastly the Battel peak.
It’s possible to reach Battel alps exactly from Tore alp, along the old trail that was used by shepherds until the last century. From this point the track is poorly visible and in order to proceed a lot of attention is required to spot the trail signs.
Going down towards Borca, the trail leads to Madonna Addolorata chapel, built in 1681 among the pines of Cicerwald alp. A legend says that a chamois hunter, who preferred to hunt instead of going to church, shot two white chamois above the rocks of Cicerwald. The animals though, instead of fleeing, tried to push him down the mountain. After the avoided risk, the hunter had the chapel built.
