The itinerary offers a panoramic view of Valle Anzasca, through natural landscapes and small clusters of houses that have been tied to the mining of precious metals for centuries.
It was in 1396 when the Cane brothers, hailing from Monferrato and settled in the valley, intrigued by the mineral particles that colored the Crotto Rosso, discovered a gold vein and began the mining.
The Cingora alp became the pivotal point for miners who worked in what was called “the gold mine of Dogs” (coming from the Italian word “cane”, meaning dog) and in the Agarè mine in Val Bianca.
With the motto “the true strain is not reaching it... but leaving it”, in 2004 the Alpe Cingora consortium was established and, among many ventures, completed the restoration of an old lodge, inaugurating it as bivouac in 2004, free for all the mountain lovers who can now rest here, admire the landscape and eventually depart towards more pastures until they reach the Mottone pass.
