Towers and castles

From the hills of Novara to the valleys of Ossola, castles, fortresses and watchtowers were strategically distributed for the defense of the territory. Erected mainly in the medieval period, today we can admire many buildings still intact, others have been remodeled and restored and others destroyed over the centuries.

There are numerous fortified buildings erected for defensive purposes that are arranged in such a way as to be in visual communication with each other, so that they could signal possible dangers to the other positions.

With this collection ITINERARIUM wants to tell a piece of the history that has characterized these territories, trying to imagine what life and the landscape, built only with stone / bricks and wood, must have been like.
